Nomadic Gypsies was created to document our adventures around the world. We understand the love that exist when you embrace different cultures, taste different foods, and dance to the sounds of music around the world. We like to document and share these experiences. We thought, “why not start a blog where our family and friends can see what we are up to?”  That is when we decided to create the NomadicGypsies.com. We plan to share our experiences and the knowledge we’ve gained along the way so that it can motivate our friends to get out there and explore the world. We hope you enjoy our site!

A little bit about us

While following our dreams our paths crossed allowing us to meet one another while in California. Thanks to Tinder (Yes, we met on Tinder) we were able to connect and become best friends. Eventually, our friendship grew deeper and we started to like one another. We got engaged and moved to Chicago. Next thing you know we are gazing into each other’s eyes reciting our vowels getting married in Seattle, Washington. Thanks to Periscope, we were able to broadcast our wedding live for our family and friends can see it too. Since then, we’ve been enjoying the world together.

How can we afford to travel?

We know traveling is not cheap. One of the most expensive parts of planning a trip is booking your flight. Nowadays, flights are becoming more and more expensive. Thankfully, working for an airline allows us to visit places around the world for a fraction of the cost. Don’t get us wrong, at times it can be difficult. If there’s an empty seat on the flight we are golden, but if that flight is fully booked we are shit out of luck. Sometimes we’ve found ourselves stuck in places with no flights available or even changing our plans last minute to find a destination with open seats. This is something that can be both very exciting and at the same time frustrating.  At the end, it all works out. We end up flying to places we never thought about visiting. Nonetheless, we don’t worry about the flight cost since we fly free when traveling nationally. When flying internationally, we only pay the taxes. This forces us to be creative and finding the cheapest destinations when traveling abroad. Want to know more about this? Click here.

My name is Karen Gonzalez aka “La Loca” cuz my friends thought it was crazy to leave all I had for just an adventure. I am a Bio-Pharmaceutical Chemist and 4 years ago I quit my job in the pharmaceutical industry. In a fit of anxiety, I bought a flight to Vancouver, Canada. It was one of the best decisions I have ever taken and it changed my life. Since then I’ve been dedicating my life to explore new places and discover the wonders of humanity. While I was in the United States I met a friend who months later stole my heart.

And my name is Freman. I’m a Cuban-American who was born and raised in Miami, FL. My love for traveling began when I was young. My mom would take my sister and me to different countries around South America. I took my first backpack trip to Asia when I was 24 with my buddy Alex. I decided to then pursue a career where I can travel and get paid for it.  Working on airplanes would give me just that. Since then I’ve spent seven months in Japan and have traveled most of the continental US. Thanks to my career decision I met a friend who would eventually steal my heart.
